PLOT:

Carrie (Tammin Sursok) is a big-city teenager whose life is turned upside down when she moves to a horse ranch in Wyoming to live with her father (Patrick Warburton). But everything changes when Carrie meets Flicka, a wild, jet-black mustang who's just as free-spirited and strong-willed as Carrie. The two form a special bond and Carrie opens her heart to her father and a handsome, local boy, but when a jealous rival puts Flicka's life in jeopardy, Carrie must do whatever it takes to save her best friend.

Movie Review:

This teenage girl, Carrie McLaughlin, is tough and fiesty.... used to getting by on her own in the city and riding her skateboard through the busy city streets. She lives with her grandmother, but when Child Services learn that her Grandmother is becoming forgetful and needing medical care, Carrie is sent to live with her father, Hank, in Wyoming, on their family farm.

The casting of this film was very good - Patrick Warburton was perfect as Hank McLaughlin - calm, laid-back rancher who it's easy to see - loves his little girl and his friend Toby, portrayed by Country Music Singer, Clint Black. Clint was great - funny, thoughtful, sweet, and perfectly suited to add a little comedic relief! He fit right in with the country scene.

New to a place, where she knows noone, Carrie tries to re-connect with her friends by cell phone, but a horse tramples and destroys her phone. She begs Hank for a new one - he says they can discuss it in a few weeks. Of course she doesn't like that answer and the fact that they also don't have any internet access. So, she can't e-mail her friends, either.

Knowing noone and feeling alone, Carrie forms a tight bond with a wild mustang horse on their farm, named Flicka and eventually, also with Jake, who happens to be a young man who works for her father. Jake teaches Carrie to ride Flicka and they even train her together. Flicka is a quick learner and responds well to Carrie's gentleness and kind approach.

{SPOILER ALERT:}

Through a turn of events, Flicka ends up in the hands of another local rancher and Hank doesn't have enough money for attorneys, to get her back. Carrie, however, can't let her go - when she learns that they will put her down. In the middle of the night, she rescues the horse and sets out with Flicka. Eventually, Hank and Jake locate her and the three of them decide to set Flicka free. She was a wild mustang, after all. They do so... and a year later they return to the mountains to see the wild mustangs run by and they see Flicka, who know has a young foal.

Carrie runs to Flicka and Flicka gallops up to her with the foal at her side... and they decide it's time to bring Flicka home!

Beautiful story... the country and landscape is absolutely spectacular! I liked this movie even better than the first Flicka! Great story for any one who loves farm life, the country setting, and of course, horses!
